This is the fourth year of the Ice Hockey Classic in Australia! Playing in front of sold out crowds in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Pert and Brsibane the tour is designed to excite ice hockey and attract newcomers to the fastest game on ice. Throughout the tour players not only entertain thousands of enthusiastic ice hockey fans, they donate their time to help train the youth across Australia and also help organizations such as Ice Factor in Adelaide.

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the NHL and the 150th Anniversary of Canada so it will be extra special when Canada takes on the US for the CUP! The teams are comprised of players from the NHL, AHL, ECHL along with recently retired players who have retired. Being responsible to organize players for this one-of-a-kind tour, Keith Primeau and Kerry Goulet have attracted such NHL’ers as Brent Burns, Scott Darling, Ben Scrivens, Adam Cracknell, Bryce Salvador, John Scott, Scott Hannan, Nolan Yonkman, David Booth, Kyle Quincey, Zenon Konopka, Ryan Wilson, Eric Condra, Taylor Beck, Emerson Etem, Ian Cole, and Matt Kassian. Your support is what makes this event truly special and we hope you will entertain the thought of joining us!

This year’s edition of coaches and players are Darryl Sittler (Coach Team Canada), Dave “Tiger” Williams (Coach Team USA), Team Canada is represented by Captain Mike Commodore (2006 Stanley Cup Winner), Adam Cracknell (Dallas Stars), Peter Holland (Arizona Coyotes), Chris Driedger (Ottawa Senators, Ben Harpur (Ottawa Senators), Terry Yake (former St. Louis Blues) Stephane Matteau (1994 Stanley Cup Winner) and Team USA is represented by Captain Scott Hannan (former San Jose Sharks), Barndan Bollig (Calgary Flames), TJ Brennan (Philadelphia Flyers/Leigh Valley Phantoms), Colin Blackwell (San Jose Sharks/San Jose Barracudas, and Stefan Matteau (Montreal Canadiens/St. John’s IceCaps.

The teams playing as Team Canada and Team USA are made up of players from the NHL/AHL/ECHL and Europe compete for the CUP in games this year, June 17 (Sydney) and June 24 (Melbourne). We will add a showcase Charity Showcase game in Newcastle, which will help grow the game across Australia and most importantly support very good causes along the way such as stopconcussions Foundation, Brain Injury Australia and Ice Hockey Australia.

Last year’s tour featured Wayne Gretzky as the tour ambassador and we were able to raise well over $150,000.00 Australian dollars for the causes and local ice hockey associations.
